Property Rights Allegedly Obtained Illegally

WEB, June 17, 2024 - New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin has charged South Jersey Democratic power broker George Norcross III with corruption. The indictment alleges that Norcross and others illegally obtained property rights along the Camden waterfront.

Norcross, who has been a major figure in New Jersey politics for decades, is accused of using his influence to steer a project to redevelop the waterfront in a way that benefited his associates.

The indictment also charges Norcross with making false statements to investigators. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The charges against Norcross are a major blow to the Democratic Party in New Jersey. Norcross is a close ally of Governor Phil Murphy, and he has been a major donor to Democratic candidates and causes.
